In a stunned state of shock, Raymond raced outside to see if someone had been in the home and fired a gun, but he found absolutely no one and didn’t hear anyone running away or speeding off in a car. He went back inside and cautiously entered the kitchen again. Whatever happened after that, Raymond refused to speak of it no matter the questions he was asked. Someone or something had scared him into silence.

Shortly after, Ginger visited her father, who started to go into detail about all his plans for converting the old mansion into a hotel and restaurant. As they were sitting over some blueprints that Ray had drawn up, Raymond started to become anxious and fidgety for unknown reasons. Ginger noticed that he was biting his nails and asked him what was wrong. When he tried brushing it off, she exclaimed that she had recently been studying hypnosis and that perhaps using this on him might help him with his nervous nail biting. Raymond agreed and sat next to her, getting as comfortable as possible. Ginger held up a pen in front of his face and told him to concentrate on the object. He started to become drowsy and eventually fell into a half-sleep state. Ginger’s daughter, Mary, was standing outside the door to the room they were in and recalled her mother asking her uncle general questions and then questions about Summerwind. Immediately, Raymond’s leg began to bounce up and down and shake uncontrollably.
